ThermaSource has positioned itself as the preferred turn-key resource developer for the geothermal energy industry and is recognized as the worldwide leader in geothermal drilling and engineering.  ThermaSource provides the necessary expertise to geothermal developers interested in the discovery and development of geothermal resources for power generation and direct use applications. 

ThermaSource, Inc. was founded in Santa Rosa, Calif., in 1980 by Louis E. Capuano Jr. Since then ThermaSource has been an important contributor to the geothermal industry. With nearly 30 years of project management experience, ThermaSource is prepared to continue growing in the geothermal field. ThermaSource has a management team with a combined 125 years of geothermal drilling experience and as a group have worked in every geothermal region of the world.

ThermaSource, LLC was formed in early 2007 with equity investments from US Renewables Group and Riverstone Holdings, LLC. This investment has funded ThermaSource’s expansion, including the purchase of drilling rigs, purchase of a geothermal exploration company, and a geothermal well logging company, and the formation of a geothermal cementing company, and drilling fluid supply service company. Since 2007, ThermaSource grew from a three-person consultancy to a 250-person geothermal service provider.

ThermaSource currently operates eleven rigs in the western US. ThermaSource owns and operates two exploratory geothermal rigs that core to 6,000 ft (1,830 m) and nine production rigs that have the capabilities of drilling wells as deep as 20,000 ft (6,100 m). These rigs have been modified to drill high-temperature wells. ThermaSource’s turn-key solution collectively provides project management, drilling engineering, drill rig operations, resource assessment, well testing, drilling fluid services, and supply and geothermal cementing services.

•       ChemTech Services LLC (Provides drilling fluid and engineered drilling fluid programs),

•       EGS Inc. (Exploration, resource assessment, and environmental services), and

•       Tecton Geologic LLC (Provides well logging and H2S abatement).
